Sleeping Bear Dunes-In 2011, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was named the most beautiful place in America. The park contains thousands of acres of rolling dunes and forest, all open to exploration by foot or car. It's a great place for a picnic, walk, or just spending the day at the beach. 

Wine Trails-There are a huge number of vineyards in and around Traverse City. One of the most popular "wine tours" is the Leelanau Wine Trail. It passes through a number of the region's best wineries and some of the most beautiful terrain in the country. Black Star Farms is part of the Leelanau Peninsula wine trail, and is also one of our favorites.  (Be sure to try their Arcturos Pinot Noir.) It makes a good day trip and is a fun way to tour the area.

Another one of the popular and most beautiful wineries are found on the Old Mission Peninsula.  Make sure to hit some of the most picturesque ones such as Bonobo, 2 Lads and Chateau Chantel.  

Ice Cream-Moomers is a small family owned business overlooking the family dairy farm. It's no surprise the ice cream is delicious and fresh...you can watch the actual dairy cows graze from the store! In 2008, Moomers was voted America's Best Scoop.
